Holiday lighting contest December 12-17 in Byhalia “The
Light Up The Town” Holiday Lighting Contest will be held December 12-17
in Byhalia.
The
winners will be announced December 19. A yard sign will be presented to
the winners. Each winner will win $50 donated by the Byhalia Garden
Club and Byhalia Beautiful.
The
contest is open
to properties within the Byhalia town limits. The categories are
residential (best door or window, best overall and most original) and
commercial or public buildings (best overall and best door or window).
Community choir to perform Sunday at St. Joseph Church The
Holly Springs Community Choir, under the direction of Zebedee Jones,
will perform its annual Christmas cantata at 5 p.m. on Dec. 16 at St.
Joseph Church, 305 E. Van Dorn Avenue.
This
year’s cantata will be “I Believe He’s the Son of God,” composed by
John F. Wilson. Admission to the performance is free.
The
event is a joint production of Asbury and St. Joseph. Choir members are
drawn from various Holly Springs churches and from the community at
large.
Santa Claus appearing at multi-purpose building Friday Children
10 and under are invited to meet Santa Friday, Dec. 14, at the Eddie
Lee Smith Multi-Purpose Building in Holly Springs.
Santa
will be there from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. to talk with children and hear
their Christmas wishes.
The
event is sponsored by the Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department.
Registration continues for Leadership Marshall County Leadership
Marshall begins with an overnight retreat Jan. 24-25.
This
is the fourth session of Leadership Marshall which trains today’s
leaders to become visionaries for the future of the area.
Class
enrollment is set for about 30, with the enrollment deadline of January
15.
Participation
in these classes has historically been diverse, including local elected
officials, school administrators, business and corporate leaders and
staff, bankers and individuals taking advantage of self-improvement and
networking opportunities.
Monthly
meetings will be rotated around the county.
