A crowd of about 200 adults and children gathered Friday night at the Byhalia Fire Station to usher in the Christmas season with a mini-parade, the official lighting of the tree, caroling, dancing, listening to the Christmas message and a visit with Santa.

Owen takes post with Arkansas agency

OC. Ivy Owen, community development coordinator with the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, formerly of Holly Springs, recently announced he accepted the executive director position with the Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority (FCRA) in Fort Smith, Ark. Owen has been an active part of the Philadelphia community where he has served on numerous boards and committees.

Supervisors tie up loose ends on projects as year wraps up

Marshall County supervisors voted to swap a project with the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) that will improve safety and traffic flow in the town of Byhalia.

The Marshall County Board of Supervisors and Industrial Development Authority, in an early December meeting, discussed ways to get railroad overpasses at Byhalia and Potts Camp to ease long waits at the tracks due to stopped trains.
