P.O. Box 38289 Germantown, TN 38183 LOCATION: NE 1/4 and S 1/2 of Section 13, and the SE 1/4 of Section 12, Township 2 North, Range 5 West, Marshall County, Mississippi DESCRIPTION: Applicant proposes a 227 acre expansion to Surface Mining Permit P06-023. The operator proposes to strip mine 227 acres to a total depth of 50 feet for sand and gravel, in addition to the previously permitted 81 acres. The new amended permit number will be P06-033A, if approved. Sediment and erosion will be controlled by settling ponds, diversion berms, and terraced slopes. Reclamation will consist of ponds with 3 to 1 grassed slopes. This public notice is being distributed to interested persons and agencies to assist in developing facts on which a decision by the Office of Geology can be based.
