Beware of scams By SUE WATSON One citizen in Byhalia reported being approached and asked for a donation to support Marshall County E-911, said director Jimmye Dale Green. Green said citizens should be wary of strangers soliciting funds and should call either E-911 at 662-252-0001 or the sheriff’s office at 662-252-1311 when they have been approached asking for donations for any public entity. The individuals who represented themselves last week in Byhalia as collecting donations for E-911 allegedly were from the Gilbertsville, Ky., area, but Green said he called the number on the receipt and the telephone number had been disconnected. “Certainly, civic-minded people want to help but this is nothing more than a scam,” Green said. “Anybody out soliciting should have a permit from the Marshall County Board of Supervisors. “If anyone in the future is approached about anything like this, they should call us or the sheriff’s department.”
