Christmas season arrives By SUE WATSON A crowd big enough to surge wrapped around the square for the 2007 Christmas Parade, according to Susan Jordan, executive director of the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce. Chancellor orders gate removed By SUE WATSON A Shelby County, Tenn., man lost a trial in chancery court for a second time and has been ordered by chancellor Glen Alderson to remove gates, gateposts and a sign that had been put up at Powell Chapel Road. Tree lighting bigger this year By SUE WATSON The Town of Byhalia’s annual tree lighting ceremony and chili supper will be bigger this year, according to Sarah Sawyer with the chamber of commerce. Clydesdale hands out checks By SUE WATSON The Clydesdale Christmas Store, founded by Brenda and Ronnie Luther 13 years ago to provide gifts to children, wrote two checks last week to say “thank you.” Enrollment time for leadership class Applications are being taken for the 2008 Leadership Marshall which begins with an overnight retreat Jan. 24-25. This is the fourth session of Leadership Marshall which trains today’s leaders to become visionaries for the future of the area. Class enrollment is set for about 30, with the enrollment deadline of January 15. Monthly meetings will be rotated around the county and include the areas of Byhalia, Annie’s Restaurant, Marshall County IDA, The Flame, Fitch Farms, Kirkwood, Wall Doxey State Park and Trevecca Manor. Employers are encouraged to sponsor a luncheon, cater a luncheon, or co-sponsor a luncheon or to provide scholarship money for individuals who lack sponsors. To sign up for the next Leadership Marshall class or to volunteer as a sponsor, contact Sarah Sawyer in Byhalia at 662-838-8127. Group talks workforce training By SUE WATSON Several industrial leaders recently met with a Northwest Community College representative and Betty Yates with the business and Business Development Corp. BDC) at Rust College to plan for the direction to take workforce training and recruiting.
