Lake will be lowered for repairs, new boat ramp
Just one week after Old Tom, down to skin and bones, was put out the back door, did Old Santa came a’knocking at the front door. He reminded me that while I keep striving for simplicity in gift giving, that will remain impossible due to my large family, so Santa had to give this lazy shopper a little shove out the door.

The Sarah Sunday School class at First Baptist Mt. Pleasant will have their Christmas dinner Saturday, Dec. 8, in the fellowship hall. Pat LeBelle will be the guest speaker.

The members of the late Doyle Smith’s family met at Olive Branch for an early Christmas dinner. They are Joyce Clayton (my neighbor), Faye Stanton, Verla Mae Stanton, Wayne Smith and wife, and Jamie Smith. It was a special day for them!

Hopewell No. 1 to present Christmas program Dec. 23
Pastor Leroy James has been a patient in one of Memphis’ hospitals.
Hopewell No. 1 will present their pre-Christmas program Sunday, Dec. 23, 10:45 a.m. It will include a welcome, the Christmas story, and Christmas music by the choir. Pastor James will deliver the sermon. The public is invited.
Michael Smith of Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Bostick and McArthur Evans of Memphis visited their aunt and cousin last week. Lazandra Wells is home from the Northeast Medical Center Hospital.
We wish to express our love and sympathy to Floyd Miller and family in the recent loss of their sister and aunt in Chicago.
