• CHRISTMAS - WINTER SALE will be held at the building behind St. Joseph Church, former Child Care Center, 8 a.m. until 12 noon. Sale will include quilts, bedding, coats, sweaters, baby clothes, books and lots of misc.

• CELEBRATION BANQUET Mt. Moriah M.B. Church family will honor their pastor and wife, Rev. Dr. R.J. Jones and Sis. Flo Wilson, with a celebration banquet for 15 years of leadership. Services will begin at 5 p.m. and Saturday, December 2 at 11 a.m. with worship service. The church is located at 3193 Marianna Road.

• SPECIAL SERVICE Pastor Marvin Brooks and the Mt. Gillian Ministries will have Rust College Gospel Choir as their special guests, 3 p.m.

• PRE-ANNIVERSARY of The Supreme Harmonettes will be held at Mt. Gillian Church, 774 Byhalia Road, previously Stonewall Road, 6 p.m. Several groups, choirs and singers will be featured guests.

December 3

• CHILI DINNER will be held at Marshall Academy Cafeteria, 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Eat in or take-out. $5.00 per ticket. All proceeds benefit the Marshall Academy PTC.

December 4

• MEETING The Friends of the Marshall County Library will host the Holly Springs Dulcimer Club at their regular meeting, Dec. 4. They have very graciously agreed to present a program of songs played on their beautiful traditional instruments. The public is invited to attend this free program at 12 noon in the meeting room. The Friends business meeting will begin at 11:30 and that is open to the public, as well. Come early and see how much enjoyment the Friends of the Library get out of supporting the Marshall County Library. Refreshments will be served.

December 5

• Friendship Christian Academy grades K5-third will join Children’s Church Ministries of Friendship Assembly of God in singing at The Christmas Tree Lighting at Byhalia Fire Dept. Festivities are 6-8 p.m.

December 8

• Banquet The eighth annual Mississippi Industrial College Alumni Association, Inc. (MICAAI) will hold their Founder’s Day banquet Dec. 8, 6:30 p.m. at the Oak Palace. • CHRISTMAS PROGRAM Rice Chapel UMC will have their annual Christmas program at 5 p.m. Special guests will be Santa Claus. Refreshments will follow. All are invited. Rev. Walter Myers is pastor.

• Emmanual Baptist Church on Red Banks Road is having a gospel singing with the Master’s Quartet from Tupelo as guests. Fellowship supper at 5 p.m. and singing at 6 p.m. Bro. Don and congregation invite all.

• MUSICIAN APPRECIATION will be held at Mt. Peel M.B. Church, 6 p.m. Musicians are James Richard Anderson, Damen Jeffries, Hermon Johnson and James Nabors. Everyone is invited. The MC will be Pastor LaDaryl Odum.

December 9

• Concert Spend the evening with Zebedee R. Jones and the world renowned Rust College A’Cappella Choir in their annual Christmas concert on Sunday, December 9, at 6 p.m. in the Morehouse Auditorium, Doxey Center. The tenth annual concert will feature “The Messiah” by George Frederic Handel. “The Messiah” is an oratorio based on a libretto of another artist’s work made famous by Handel. The libretto comprises three acts with several scenes, with the most famous movement being the “Hallelujah” chorus. The concert, sponsored by the Rust College Lyceum Series, is free and open to the public.

• Singing and Dedication Service will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, Hernando Road, with Bro. Jim Hudson of Grey Creek Baptist Church, Coldwater, as guest speaker. The Fishers of Men will be guest singers. Fellowship dinner at noon with singing afterwards. Bro. Charles Knight and members invite all.

• “A ClaY Crosse Christmas Concert” a free concert will be held at Slayden Baptist Church, 2534 Hwy. 72, 6:30 p.m. A love offering will be taken. For reserved seating call the church office at 662-252-4559.

• ST. MARK M.B. Church is hosting a Fifty Women in Red and 50 Men in Black Program at 3 p.m. Gift offering is requested. Guest speaker will be Rev. Warren and Free Branch M.B. Church. The pastor is Rev. Derrick Gibbs and sponsor is Sis. Paula Byers.

• Dulcimer Classes are given at the Holly Springs Library every second and fourth Thursday afternoons from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Instructors Forrest and Eileen Smith come from Booneville to share their knowledge. • Friendship Christian Academy presents an evening you will never forget, “Love Came in a Manger” with the grand finale “Nothing Compares To This.” Come early to ensure seating.

• Friendship Christian Academy will close in observance of the Christmas Holidays 19 -Jan. 1 and will resume classes Jan. 2.

December 23

• Musicians’ appreciation, The Twilight Singers will celebrate their musicians, Carlos Joe Ford, Robert Poole Jr. and Richard Luellen, on Sun., Dec. 23, Mt. Newell MB Church, Red Banks, 4 p.m. Sponsor, Sis. Ella B. Malone. Many groups will be on the program. Everyone is invited.
