Snow Lake News Barbara Salling
Big breakfast and corporate meeting set for SaturdayThe beautiful leaves are still around this week.
How enjoyable to get a double dose of the beauty of nature with the
reflection of God’s handiwork in the lake. The leaves continue to
brighten with different hues of color and before long will be in their
full glory. How I love this time of year. Congratulations
to the newly elected officials of Benton County and all of Mississippi.
Best wishes for a successful and a rewarding term. Much
needed preventative maintenance is still being done on our roads,
especially in the areas where there are drainage problems. Our mayor is
working diligently to keep these roads in excellent shape to eliminate
possible conditions that could cause potholes and washed-out shoulders.
There have been some washout problems at certain intersections, but
these situations are being remedied. Don’t
forget to call the fire chief at 224-8008 if you are in need of a free
smoke detector. One of our volunteer firemen will properly install the
detector if you are unable to do it yourself. These small devices can
save your life in case of a fire, so please be prepared. Remember
to use extreme caution when burning leaves or other combustibles.
Always have a clear area around your proposed burning area of at least
ten feet and be sure to have a good water hose handy with plenty of
pressure to combat any accidental fires. These
simple precautions could possibly save your house or automobile from
catching fire and causing a disaster. Remember, try to not burn debris
in high winds. That’s the quickest way I know of to start a fire that
you didn’t plan! This Saturday is the monthly Big
Breakfast of two eggs, biscuits or toast, grits, sausage and Hut’s
wonderful white gravy. Like they used to say on Hee Haw, “Yum, yum”!
After this delicious breakfast, stroll on over to the Corporate office
and enjoy the monthly meeting of the board of directors. This is an
important time, for you have the opportunity to voice your concerns
immediately subsequent to the close of the meeting. That is the time
when you may address the board directly and hopefully get your
questions answered from the “horse’s mouth”. Also,
on Saturday night we will have Pot Luck. This is a week early due to
the fact that the following week is Thanksgiving, so it looks as if
Saturday will be a “full day”, if you know what I mean! God bless you all and pray for the sick and infirm and do what you can to help out your friends and neighbors in need. As
always, if you have anything newsworthy for the citizens of Snow Lake,
please e-mail me and I will try to put it in this article. barb.snowlake@yahoo.com |
