Tax office open full-time at Byhalia Substation By SUE WATSON Staff Writer The
Byhalia Substation, which houses the Marshall County tax collector’s
office, sheriff’s office and ambulance services for the county,
officially cut the ribbon Monday, Nov. 5. Following
the ribbon cutting ceremony, all guests were served barbecue, beans,
slaw and banana pudding cooked by Sheriff Kenny Dickerson and his
cooking team. The ribbon cutting coincides with
full-time staffing at the tax office - five days a week - beginning
this month. The substation is open weekly (except holidays) during
regular working hours and the ambulance service is situated there for a
quicker response time to the north and western portions of the county. Shown

Police nab larceny suspects The Holly Springs Police Department made three recent arrests on grand larceny charges. Floyd
Collins, 17, of Holly Springs, Wesley C. Glover, 17, of Holly Springs,
and Rent Marquez McNeil, 17, of Potts Camp were all arrested on
Thursday, Nov. 8, and charged with grand larceny, according to Chief
Robert Pearson. Also last week, Robert L. Smith,
32, of Red Banks, was arrested November 9, Pearson said, and charged
with possession of controlled substance, trespassing, burglary of a
dwelling and utilities theft. Officers responded
to the following activities last week – driving while license
suspended, 2; expired license/no driver’s license, 2; no proof of
insurance, 5; expired tag/no tag, 2; driving under the influence, 2;
disregard for traffic devices, 1; improper equipment, 1; improper
passing, 1; simple assault, 1; trespassing, 1; disorderly conduct, 1;
careless driving, 1. Anyone having information
regarding any crime committed in the Holly Springs/Marshall area is

Area clinics announce closings for the Thanksgiving holiday The
Byhalia Family Health Center and Mt. Pleasant Family Health Clinic will
be closed on Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November 23 in
observance of the Thanksgiving holiday and will resume normal business
hours on Saturday, November 24. To schedule an
