Linda Carol Campbell
Linda
Carol Campbell, 57, of Oxford, died Oct. 22, 2007 in Taylor. She was a
member of Anchor Baptist Church and a receptionist with Holcomb and
Dunbar Law Offices.
Services were held at 2 p.m.
on Oct. 24 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Anchor
Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Gerald Hodges and Dr. Gerald Shook
officiated.
She leaves her husband, Jerrel
Campbell; a son, Jason Campbell of Fulton; a daughter, Lisa Summerford
of Byhalia; her mother, Johnny Ford of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters, Ann
Bumpas of Mt. Pleasant, Mary Skelton of Holly Springs, Deborah
Breedlove of Michigan City; and five grandsons.
She was preceded in death by a
brother, James Sidney Bumpas.
Pallbearers were Carl Sanders,
Tyler Sanders, Brandon Summerford, Dalton Summerford, Jim White and
James Ivy.
Betty Cowan
Betty Cowan, 57, of Holly
Springs, died Oct. 26, 2007 at Baptist Hospital Desoto in Southaven.
She was self-employed.
Visitation
will be Wednesday from 2-5 p.m. Services will be held at 11
a.m. on
Nov. 1 at Strawberry Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church
cemetery. Rev. Willie Jeffries will officiate. Serenity Funeral Home is
in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter,
Sherolyn Cowan of Holly Springs; her mother, Bessie Cowan of Holly
Springs; four brothers, Cliff Cowan Jr., Michael Cowan, both of Holly
Springs, Jackie Cowan of Memphis, Tenn., Roger Cowan of Virginia; and
five sisters, Patricia Harris of Byhalia, Linda Cowan of Holly Springs,
Dorothy Oliver of Cordova, Tenn., Linda Thomas of Olive Branch, Sandra
Dawkins of Waterford.
She was preceded in death by her
father, Cliff Cowan and a brother, Curtis Cowan.
Martha Jane Gammon
Martha
Jane Gammon, 99, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 24, 2007 at Alliance
HealthCare System in Holly Springs. She was the widow of William Cecil
Gammon. She was a member of Believer’s Baptist Church and a
member of
the Salvation Army in Memphis, Tenn.
Services
were held at 2 p.m. on Oct 28 at Holly Springs Funeral Home. Burial was
in Early Grove Methodist Cemetery in Slayden. Bro. Billy Michael
officiated.
She leaves three daughters, Leoda
Carlock of Counce, Tenn., Dorothy Parrette of Memphis, Tenn., Emma Jean
Gammon of Holly Springs; a brother, Nathan Rhea of Memphis, Tenn.;13
grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren;
and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was
preceded in death by a son, Sterling Gammon; and a baby boy, W.C.
Gammon; two brothers, Vance and Will Rhea; two sisters, Minnie and Tiny
Rhea; and a baby brother, Buddy Rhea.
Sonny Keith Holmes
Sonny Keith Holmes, 52, of Lamar,
died Oct. 25, 2007 at his home. He was a truck driver with Waste
Connections.
Services
were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 27 at New Harmony Baptist Church, where he
was a member. Burial was in the Holmes Family Cemetery. Holly
Springs
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He
leaves his wife, Dorothy Holmes; a son, John Holmes of Lamar; two
daughters, Tara Rhea of Walnut, Lacey Holmes of Lamar; his parents,
Thurman and Marjorie Holmes of Holly Springs; two brothers, Jacky
Holmes of Holly Springs, Patrick Holmes of New Albany; a sister, Ann
Cox of Walnut; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a
son, Adam Holmes.
Dock Morgan
Dock
Morgan, 51, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 22, 2007 at Ruleville Nursing
Home in Ruleville. He was a member of Samuel Chapel Baptist Church.
Services
were held at 11. am. On Oct. 26, at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in Samuel Chapel M.B. Church Cemetery. Rev. G.T. Thompson
officiated.
He leaves his mother, Mattie
Morgan;
four brothers, Roosevelt Morgan of Holly Springs, Roy Morgan of Ripley,
Walter Morgan of New Albany, Joe Morgan of Lamar; and four sisters,
Mattie Morgan of Memphis, Tenn., Vaitor Joyner, Margaret Morgan, Ethel
Hampton, all of Ashland.
Pallbearers were Anthony
Morgan, James C. McKenzie, Keith Morgan, Eric Hodges, Charlie Thomas
and James. P. McKenzie. Honorary pallbearers were Roosevelt Morgan Jr.,
Walter Morgan Sr., Eddie Joyner and Charlie Thomas.
