Absentee voting ends Nov. 3

Election day - featuring key state, district and local races - is less than two weeks away.

The general election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 6. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The circuit clerk’s office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily for absentee voting. Plus, it will be open Saturday, Oct. 27, and Saturday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon for absentee voting. November 3 at noon is the deadline.

The Marshall County ballot will include the following races, with Democratic candidates listed first and Republicans next.

For governor – John Arthur Eaves Jr. or Haley Barbour.
For lieutenant governor – James R. “Jamie” Franks Jr. or Phil Bryant.
For secretary of state – Robert H. “Rob” Smith or Delbert Hosemann.
For attorney general – Jim Hood or Al Hopkins.
For state auditor – Mike Sumrall or Stacey E. Pickering.
For state treasurer – Shawn O’Hara or Tate Reeves.
For commissioner of agriculture and commerce – Rickey L. Cole, Lester Spell or Paul Leslie Riley (Constitution Party).
For commissioner of insurance – Gary Anderson or Mike Chaney.
For Northern District, public service commissioner – Brandon Presley or Mabel Murphree.
For State Senate, District 2 – Bill Stone or Ralph H. Doxey.
For State House of Representatives, District 5 – Kelvin O. Buck or James Richard Dunworth.
For State House of Representatives, District 13 – Jack Gadd or John Helmert.
For chancery clerk – C.W. “Chuck” Thomas or Tim Wilson.
For coroner – James Richard Anderson or Bobby L. Watson (Independent).
For supervisor, District 1 – Willie Flemon Jr. or Scott Foster.
For supervisor, District 5 – Ronnie Joe Bennett or Edward Overall.
For constable, North District – Johnny Fitch or George W. Kahrs.

Unopposed on the November 6 ballot are:

Northern District, transportation commissioner – William R. “Bill” Minor.
District attorney, District 3 – Ben Creekmore.
State House of Representatives, District 52 – Tommy Woods.
Circuit clerk – Lucy Carpenter.
County attorney – Shirley Byers.
Sheriff – Kenny Dickerson.
Tax assessor – Juanita M. Dillard.
Tax collector – Betty Byrd.
Superintendent of education, Marshall County – Don Randolph.
Supervisor, District 2 – Eddie Dixon.
Supervisor, District 3 – Keith Taylor.
Supervisor, District 4 – George Zinn III.
Justice court judge, North District – Eugene D. Brown Jr.
Justice court judge, South District – Ernest Cunningham.
