Jimmie
L. Allen, 83, of Lamar, died Oct. 14, 2007 at Baptist East Hospital in
Memphis, Tenn. He was a member of Lamar Union Church, a farmer,
employed with Troxel and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Services
were held at 2 pm. on Oct. 16 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in Clear Creek Cemetery. Bro. Don Wilson officiated.
He
leaves his wife, Marvel Allen; two sons, Robert Allen of Ripley,
Stanley Allen of Lamar; two daughters, Betty Denham, Sue Allen, both of
Lamar; a brother, Alton Allen of Holly Springs; three sisters, Myrtis
Skelton, Jeannie Taylor, both of Lamar, Bonnie Skelton of Holly
Springs; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by two sons, Louis (Butch) Allen, Jimmy (Jabo)
Allen.
Donald E. Bailey Sr.
Donald
E. Bailey Sr., 77, of Pearl, died Oct. 4, 2007 at River Oaks Hospital.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from the U.S. Soil
Conservation Service.
Services
were
held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 6 at McLaurin Heights Baptist Church in Pearl,
where he was a member and lifetime deacon. Burial was in Floral Hills
Memory Gardens. Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He
leaves his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Sharp Bailey; two sons Don Bailey
Jr. of Pearl, Richard Bailey of Jackson; a brother, Sammie Bailey of
Holly Springs; a sister, Jenice Bailey Clayton of Potts Camp; three
grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
Johnnie Beard Jr.
Johnnie
(Sonny Boy) Beard Jr., 67, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly
Springs, died Oct. 6, 2007 at Americare Health and Rehab in Memphis. He
was a retired supervisor with E.I. Dupont in Millington, Tenn. after 26
years.
Services
were held at 12
noon on Oct. 13 at Pleasant Grove MB Church in Red Banks, where he was
a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. S.A. Phillips
officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.

leaves a daughter,
Wanda Griffin of Memphis, Tenn.; four sons, Steve Beard, Dwight Beard,
Dereck Beard, Ronnie Beard, all of Memphis, Tenn.; four sisters, Jessie
Ann Austin of Detroit, Mich., Mary Moore of Chicago, Ill., Mattie
Belfoure of Texarkana, Tx., Dorothy Porter of Fayetteville, N.C.; three
brothers, Willie Beard of Memphis, Tenn., Wilbert Beard, Albert Beard,
both of Holly Springs; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

were Melvin Mitchell, Elliott Beard, Patrick Porter, Willus Beard,
Jefferey Belfoure and Wilbert J. Beard. Honorary pallbearers were
Stevie Beard, Dwight Beard, Willie Beard, Ronnie Beard, Derek Beard,
Wilbert Beard, Albert Beard.

Mack Bean Sr., 72, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Lamar, died Oct. 10,
2007, at his home. He was a retired machine operator at JEHL Cooper Co.
Services
were held at 12 noon on Oct. 15 at Greenwood MB Church in Lamar with
burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Aubrey Thompson officiated. J.F.
Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

leaves four daughters, Helen Edwards of Park Forrest, Ill., Eloise
Dukes, Marilyn Denise Dukes, both of Flint, Mich., Vera Denise Mason of
Michigan City; two sons, Clarence Bean Jr. of Memphis, Willie Mack Bean
of Lamar; a sister, Mary Lue Prater of Jackson; five brothers, George
Bean, Curtis B. Bean, both of Lamar, Robert K. Bean, Thurman Lee Bean,
both of Memphis, Walker Lewis Bean of Indianapolis, Ind.; 28
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

D. Corey, 79, of Byhalia, died Oct. 9, 2007 at Methodist University
Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a retired service manager with Bluff
City Electronics.

was a member. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery in Collierville, Tenn.

Emmieline Faulkner Fitch

Faulkner Fitch, 89, of Holly Springs, died Oct 12, 2007 at Alliance
HealthCare System in Holly Springs. She was the widow of Cleveland
Fitch. She was a member of the Missionary Society and an Eastern Star.

were held at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 14 at Pleasant Grove MB Church in Red
Banks, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev.

Quitman Gadd, 67, of Ashland, died Oct. 12, 2007 at his home. He was a
Baptist and a body shop worker with MLGW.

Burial was in Gadd Family Cemetery in Ashland.

leaves his wife, Teresa Gadd; two sons, James Elton Gadd of Ashland,
Cody Gadd of Arkansas; a daughter, Brenda Estes of Southaven; his
mother, Cleo Gadd of Olive Branch; a brother, Quinton Gadd of Olive
Branch; and three grandchildren.

Claire King, 57, of Memphis, Tenn., died Oct. 15, 2007 at her home. She
was a member of United Church of Christ and was owner of a home
cleaning business.

Burial was in McKay Cemetery in Hickory Flat.
She
leaves two sons, Billy King, Nathan King, both of Hickory Flat; two
daughters, Tabatha Hatfield of Potts Camp, Janie Hulsey of Red Banks;
her partner, Sandra Rieben of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Sam Kirk of
Memphis, Tenn., Nathan Abston Kirk of Pensacola, Fla.; and three
sisters, Norma Rooker, Bonnie June Ayers, Nina Waymon, all of Hickory
Flat.
She
was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Kirk.

Jane Walls Patterson, 57, of Benton County, died Oct. 12, 2007 at St.
Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was a member of the Stewardess
Board and a self-employed seamstress.

were held at Mt. Zion CME Church in Benton County, where she was a
member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Eric Shields

arrangements.

leaves a
daughter, Angela Williams of Memphis, Tenn.; a son, Rodney Patterson of
Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Marjorie Holts of Holly Springs; three

Arthur Knights of Peoria, Ill.; her companion, Arthur Baldwin of Holly
Springs; and four grandchildren.
Philip Dean Teel
Philip
Dean Teel, 70, of Red Banks, died Oct. 3, 2007 at Baptist DeSoto
Hospital in Southaven. He was a fork lift operator with Carrier and a
U.S. National Guard veteran with the 108th Armored Cavalry.

were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 6 at Carey Chapel Baptist Church, where he
was a member. Bro. O.E. Langner officiated. Burial was in the church
cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He
leaves his wife, Syble Teel of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Philip Douglas
Teel of Holly Springs, Jeffrey Dean Teel of Ashland; a daughter, Paula
Teel Poff of Ashland; a brother, Warren Teel of Mt. Pleasant; a sister,
Lola Dickerson of Holly Springs; and nine grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amber Poff.

W. Thomas, 80, of Waterford, died Oct. 11, 2007 at Baptist East
Hospital. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and a farmer.

were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 13 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Laws Hill.
He
leaves his wife, Louise Shaw Thomas; and five stepchildren, Bobby
Clanton of Holly Springs, Sherry Ferrell of Nesbit, Kay Morton of
Memphis, Tenn., Sue Day of Laws Hill and Mike Clanton of Bethlehem.
