By BARRY BURLESON
A stolen four-wheeler has been recovered and three people arrested in connection with the incident.
Charles Edward Malone, 36, 177 Malone Lane, Byhalia, and Brandon Cecil, 24, 1399 Hebron Church Road, Lamar, were arrested and charged with grand larceny in the theft of a four-wheeler, according to Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson. Malone was arrested October 12 and Cecil October 16.
The four-wheeler was stolen from Campground Road behind Mt. Zion Church.
Dickerson said Malone is being held on a Mississippi Department of Corrections warrant and Cecil faces several other charges in relation to some burglaries and larceny cases. He said Cecil has more charge in two other counties.
Bond on the two suspects was set at $5,000 each.
Vannie Gatewood, 56, 35 Gatewood Lane, Byhalia, was arrested October 12 and charged with receiving stolen property, Dickerson said. He said Gatewood was arrested at his residence and the four-wheeler, stolen from Campground Road, was recovered at his residence.
Gatewood is out of jail on $5,000 bond.
Dickerson said the sheriff’s department has recovered a lot of stolen property from the Barton, Highway 72 and Byhalia areas. If anyone who has been a victim of theft wants to look over the property, contact the sheriff’s department, 662-252-1311.
The sheriff’s department also reported two other recent arrests in separate incidents.
After receiving numerous complaints and information from cooperating witnesses, the 3rd Judicial Narcotics Unit and the sheriff’s department recently arrested Clarence Martin, 54, Parker Cove, Byhalia, Dickerson said. Martin is charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to transfer, enhanced by possession of a weapon, he said.
The investigation is ongoing. The suspect is out on $5,000 bond.
Cassandra Wolfe, 36, 2323 Macingvale, Hernando, was recently arrested and charged with absconded house arrest, violation of probation, according to the sheriff’s department.
