ACT reviews
offered at Marshall Academy
For all students taking the October ACT,
there will be a series of reviews at Marshall Academy the week of the
testing. These reviews are open to the community.
The test is set for October 27. The reviews
are set for October 22, 23 and 24 at MA.
The schedule follows:

Monday, Oct. 22 – There will be English/reading
review in Christie McLendon’s room. There will be a joint
review with both reading passages to help students pick pertinent
information (main ideas, author’s purpose, etc.) from paragraphs,
as well as a grammar, punctuation, parts of speech, etc. This is
a double review on two testing areas, plus test-taking strategies.
Cost is $20 for the review and the time will be from 5 p.m. to 7
p.m. The review will be conducted by McLendon and Dwana McAlexander.

Tuesday, Oct. 23 – There will be math
review, including geometry, algebra and using calculators for problem
solving. Cost is $10 and the time will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
It will be taught by Patti Carlisle in her classroom.

Wednesday, Oct. 24 – A science review
will be conducted by Julie Dalton. The time will be from 3 p.m.
until 5 p.m. (allowing for time to attend church). Review will be
chemistry terms, symbols, etc., and reading graphs. Cost is $10,
and it will be held in Dalton’s classroom.

Sand Flat (now H.W. Byers) class of 1978
plans their 30 year class reunion.

 Freshman MSU Maid
Meghan E. Owen of Holly Springs is one of two freshmen maids for 2007
Homecoming at Mississippi State University. Crowning of the queen, as
well as presentation of her court and the new Mr. and Miss MSU, took
place during halftime of Saturday’s [Oct. 6] afternoon football
game between the Bulldogs and the University of Alabama, Birmingham
Blazers at Scott Field at Davis Wade Stadium. Owen, a biological sciences/pre-medicine
major, is the daughter of Ron Owen and Joyce Owen. Robyn Ford of Madison
is the other freshman maid.
