department makes sexual battery, drug arrests

Two men from the Byhalia/Barton
area were arrested and charged with sexual battery of juveniles and
several were arrested in Potts Camp on illegal drug charges, according
to Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson.
Tony Guy, 39, of 11 South Winston Cove,
Byhalia, was arrested and charged with sexual battery of a juvenile
in an incident that occurred in the Byhalia area on August 13, he said.
Additional charges may follow. Guy is being held at the Marshall County
jail under an arrest warrant from the Mississippi Department of Corrections
charging probation violation, he said.
In a separate incident, Scott Harris,
21, of 2647 Deer Creek Road in the Barton area, was arrested September
26 and charged with sexual battery involving a juvenile. Harris is being
held in jail on $10,000 bond, Dickerson said.
Several illegal drug-related arrests
were made in Potts Camp on the afternoon of October 6.
“Our officers received confidential
information of illegal drug activity and other activity in the Potts
Camp area that led them to a residence at 20 Accurate Drive,”
Dickerson said.
Upon arrival, he said the following arrests
were made:

Stoney Gross, 43, of 18 McCauley
Street, Ashland, was charged with felony possession of a firearm
and remains in jail on $5,000 bond.

Gary Lewis, 40, of the Potts
Camp area, was charged with possession of marijuana and released
on $500 bond.

William Brent Cheatwood, 47,
of the Potts Camp area, was charged with possession of powder cocaine,
and released on $2,000 bond.

George Brown Jr., 64, of 105
Pontotoc Street in Potts Camp, was charged with possession of drug
paraphernalia. Brown also had an outstanding arrest warrant issued
by the Holly Springs Police Department for failure to pay a fine.

Michael Nunnally, 39, of Ashland,
was charged with possession of powder cocaine with intent to sell
and possession of Zanex with intent to sell. Nunnally is being held
in jail for possible violation of probation with MDOC.

Jeremy Schlender, 32, of the
Holly Springs area, was picked up on a warrant for failure to appear
in Marshall County justice court and also on an arrest warrant issued
by the State of Illinois for failure to appear in court.”
Dickerson said other arrests during October
include:

Reginald Wells, 29, of the
Laws Hill area, arrested on Van Dorn Avenue October 8, and charged
with possession of marijuana. Wells is being held on an outstanding
arrest warrant issued by Shelby County charging violation of probation.

Jessie White, 17, of Croft
Road in the Barton area, arrested October 2 and charged with felony
grand larceny. Michael Looney, 17, of the Byhalia/Barton area was
also charged with felony grand larceny for the theft of some automobile
wheels and copper wire.
Both suspects were arrested in the Byhalia
area and were later released on $5,000 bond each. They await future
court action.
