Johnsons rejoice over birth of new baby boy, William Drake

Steve and Michelle (McClure) Johnson are the proud parents of a son who was born at Baptist Desoto Hospital on January 11. He weighed seven pounds, 10 ounces and has been named William Drake. A sister and brother are welcoming him home. Grandparents are Billy and Estelle McClure and great-grandmother is Becky Clifton of Potts Camp.

Lena Faye Work honored on 86th birthday

Thanks to Mary Minor, who visited me Monday, for the wonderful pictures she brought and a 2007 Gurley Calendar. One picture, taken on Dec. 23, her mom’s (Mary Lois Gurley) birthday, was in The South Reporter. They celebrated Christmas that day in Red Banks at the home of Kyle Poole and family.

Bill and Becky Bledsoe celebrate 30th anniversary

I expected to see penguins waddling around the lake last week during that cold spell; but instead, our feathered friends, the geese, were still here instead of flying south for the winter. One resident said he had counted over a hundred geese in one gaggle last month.
