Education
H.W. Byers
PTA is fired up
H.W. Byers PTA held its first meeting
of the new school year last Thursday night and we are fired up. In attendance
at the meeting were the elementary assistant principal, Mr. Cross and
the high school principal, Mr. Hannah. Also a large number of our elementary
and high school teachers were present. The only thing missing were the
parents of the student(s) who attend H.W. Byers.
Parents, we would like to encourage you
to be more involved in your child’s education. Attending PTA meetings
is just one way to show your child and their teachers you do care about
the level of education your child is getting and that you are willing
to do what it takes to make sure that happens. The principals and faculty
have already committed themselves and their personal time to support
our PTA, now what about you?
We invite you to attend PTA meetings
which are held on the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. Our October
meeting will be hosted by the athletic department and the November meeting
will be hosted by the language arts department. This is a great opportunity
for parents to hear and see the great things happening at H.W. Byers.
The PTA will be sponsoring our
annual Fall Carnival on October 26 and we need your help. If you are
interested in volunteering your great ideas and time, please contact
Vivian Gulledge at 901-870-1210 or Tonya Gulledge at 901-488-4186. We
look forward to working with you this school year.
