I recently received a call from a lady
in Holly Springs who told me an interesting story of how she participated
in the opening ceremonies of this lake, almost fifty years ago. The
developers, with the help of local residents from Ashland and Holly
Springs put on a fun-filled weekend with many activities advertising
the grand opening of the lake.

No. 1 hosts concert Oct. 7
The Pastoral Club of Hopewell No. 1 will
present Dr. Zebedee Reynolds Jones, professor of music at Rust College,
in concert Sunday, Oct. 7, 7 p.m. at Hopewell No. 1. The public is invited.
Hopewell No. 1’s church picnic
was Saturday, Sept. 8 at Wall Doxey State Park. Games were played and
wholesome conversation was held among the members.
Hopewell No. 1’s conference for
the second quarter will meet Friday, Oct. 12, 7 p.m. Pastor James, presiding.
He urges all members to attend.
Samuel Chapel’s church picnic was
last Saturday.
Marshall County Retired Personnel will
meet Friday, Oct. 12 at the library.
We wish to congratulate Rev. Dewitt Glover
for being selected new pastor at Harris Chapel Baptist Church in Benton
County. Rev. Glover attended Bible class when it was held at Rust College
and attended a workshop at Mt. Austin in Desoto County. Dr. R.J. Wilson
is his pastor.
Henderson Milan has been a patient in
Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Greenfield Presbyterian Church’s
annual Family and Friend’s Day program will be held Sunday, September
23, 3 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Come one and all. It’s
a time we expect to see our former members, members and friends back
home to help us make a joyful noise unto the Lord.
