MA drops two
The Marshall Academy Lady Patriots dropped close contests last week to Indianola and Immanuel.
Coach Catherine Mirante’s team fought hard Tuesday, Sept. 4, at home against powerhouse Indianola before falling 6-3.
Scoring goals for MA were Anna Kathryn Adair, Kimberly Cunningham and Molly West.
The Lady Patriots then visited Columbus Thursday afternoon and suffered a frustrating 4-2 loss to the Lady Rams.
MA built an early 2-0 lead in the game but couldn’t hang on.
The Lady Patriots’ first goal came when Haley Elliott shot, the ball deflected off the cross bar and Emma Burleson hit it in.
“That was one of our better plays of the season,” Mirante said.
Amanda Rhea scored the other goal for Marshall.
The Lady Patriots, 2-6, were scheduled to visit Bayou Academy in Cleveland on Monday of this week.
Then they have a long layoff before traveling to Clarksdale Thursday, Sept. 20, to meet Lee Academy.
