Football
field damage
Reginald Burke (left) with city building and grounds and South
Reporter publisher Barry Burleson look over damage to the football
field at Sam Coopwood Park. Burke and other workers were busy
at the field Friday. The field was damaged recently by a vehicle
or vehicles driven on it when it was moist in certain spots due
to a sprinkler system in use. The mischief caused various ruts.
Due to the condition of the field, last Friday night’s football
game between Holly Springs and Lafayette, originally scheduled
as a home game for the Hawks, was moved to Lafayette. Coach Clifford
Brown reported just before press-time Tuesday that this Friday’s
game versus Water Valley, also scheduled for home, has been moved,
too. It will be played at Water Valley with a 7 p.m. kickoff. |
The Holly Springs Police Department made
several recent arrests, including four for felony malicious mischief
involving damage to the football field.
