Patriots improve to 10-4 overall

The Marshall Academy Lady Patriots
earned three wins in four days last week on the softball diamond.
They beat Kirk Monday, Lee (Ark.) Tuesday
and North Delta Thursday to up their season mark to 10-4. They’re
4-0 in district play entering this week’s action.
MA left Grenada August 20 with a 4-3
district win over Kirk.
Casey Gibson picked up the pitching victory.
She struck out seven, walked none and gave up seven hits.
Getting one hit each for Marshall were
Mandy Bolden, Courtney Gibson, Traci Rodgers, Heather Tomlinson and
Lauren Alexander.
The important district victories continued
the next day, August 21, as the Lady Patriots routed Lee (Marianna,
Ark.) 12-2.
Rodgers and Bolden carried the biggest
bats. They had four and three hits, respectively.
Adding two hits each were Courtney Gibson
and Heather Tomlinson. Also getting in on the hit parade were Lauren
Alexander, Brittney Tomlinson and Chelsey Gilliam with one each.
Alexander recorded the win from the mound.
She gave up just three hits, struck out five and walked one.
Marshall wrapped up the successful week
with a 4-0, non-district win over North Delta.
Casey Gibson was the winning pitcher.
She gave up only three hits and walked one.
Heather Tomlinson, Brittney Tomlinson
and Rodgers had a hit each in the four-run victory.
Schedule
The Lady Patriots visited Carroll Monday
and hosted Lee (Clarksdale) Tuesday. They host North Delta Thursday
and go to Indianola Tuesday, Sept. 4. All games start at 4 p.m.
