| Voter
registration available for Nov. 6 general election
• Only Democratic ballot for August 28 primary
runoff
The deadline to register to vote in the
November 6 general election is October 5, according to circuit clerk
Lucy Carpenter. Those who register by mail must have their forms postmarked
no later than October 5.
Voter registration forms are available
at Byhalia City Hall, Potts Camp City Hall and at the circuit clerk’s
office in the courthouse in Holly Springs.
Absentee voting information was not available
at presstime for the August 28 runoff election. Absentee ballots will
not be available until they are approved by the Secretary of State’s
office, Carpenter said.
Those eligible to vote absentee by mail
include military personnel, students who will be out of the county for
school on election day and anyone who will not be in county on August
28 due to travel or work out of state.
Carpenter said absentee ballots will
be sent to those requesting them as long as her office has an address
to send it to and as long as there is time to get the ballot there and
back.
Those who requested absentee ballots
August 7 will be sent absentee ballots for the August 28 runoff election.
Voters should call the circuit clerk’s office at 662-252-3434,
if they have questions or requests.

these important dates.
There are no runoffs in the Republican
Party primary so only a Democratic Party ballot will be voted in Marshall
County. Those who voted the Republican Party ballot on August 7 cannot
vote August 28, since only a Democratic party ballot will be voted,
Carpenter said. If, however, a person did not vote in the August 7 primary
elections, he or she can vote August 28 regardless of party preference.
Both party candidates and Independent
candidates for offices will all be on the same ballot in November.
