Fischer
guest speaker for Byhalia luncheon August 23
The Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce will
hold its quarterly membership luncheon Thursday, Aug. 23, at The Flame
at Byhalia United Methodist Church.
Guest speaker will be Don Fischer, director
of the University of Mississippi Small Business Development Center.
He will talk on the topic “Companies With the Highest Probability
of Success.”
Networking begins at 11:15 a.m. with
lunch at 11:30 and the program from noon to 1 p.m. The luncheon sponsor
is Citizens Bank.
“We do these things to support
the chamber, promote the community and public relations for the bank,”
said Citizens Bank representative Tracy Davidson.
“I guess this is threefold,
being they all kind of go hand-in-hand with one another to equal success
for all.”
There is no charge for members with reservations.
There is a $5 charge for prospective members. Make reservations by August

Fischer has 38 years experience in sales,
marketing, service and general management within the machine tool and
allied products industries both domestic and international. He served
as president of three corporations – the largest with $39 million
in sales to the smallest with sales of $5 million. He has owned and
operated two small businesses.
Habitat for Humanity
event Thursday night at Rust
Marshall County Habitat for Humanity will
hold its annual fund-raising banquet in the Rust College cafeteria on
Thursday, August 16, beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12.
Proceeds from this delicious dinner will
go into the building fund dedicated to future homes for those financially
unable to afford decent housing in safe neighborhoods.
Quinn Bralley from the Tupelo affiliate
will be the speaker, detailing how their group goes about raising funds
and building homes for people in the Tupelo area.
