Marshall blanks Marvell
The Marshall Academy softball team improved to 4-1 on the young season Monday afternoon, Aug. 6, with an easy win over Marvell (Ark.).
Winning pitcher Lauren Alexander gave up no hits and no walks in the 10-0 victory, the home opener for the Lady Patriots.
Heather Tomlinson led the offensive attack with two hits. Getting one hit each were Mandy Bolden, Alexander, Courtney Gibson, Casey Gibson and Chelsey Gilliam.
The Lady Patriots also dominated the B-game with Courtney Gibson earning the mound win.
MA was slated to start conference play Thursday of last week versus Carroll. The game was postponed due to the extreme heat.
The Lady Patriots were scheduled to visit Lee (Clarksdale) on Monday of this week and Indianola on Tuesday. This Thursday, they will host Bayou at 3 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 18, they will participate in the Starkville Tournament.
Next Monday, Aug. 20, Marshall visits Kirk at 5 p.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 21, the Lady Patriots host Lee (Ark.) at 4 p.m.
