Holbrook chosen for Junior Nationals
Randi Holbrook, a senior at Whitley County High School in Williamsburg, Ky., is participating in the prestigious USA Junior Nationals International Sports Festival July 23-29 in Columbus, Ohio.
She is the daughter of Kevin and Trina (Curtis) Holbrook of Rockholds, Ky., and the granddaughter of Art and Dale Galbreath of Mt. Pleasant. She is the great- granddaughter of Florine Hogan of Slayden and Corrine Curtis of Lamar.
Holbrook’s invitation is based on an outstanding performance in the recent USA Junior Nationals all-state high school basketball competition held at Midway College.
Hundreds of Kentucky high school players are invited to the camp but only 30 players are picked to represent their state. One group goes out west and the other group goes to Columbus.
The players do not get to pick where they want to go; they are placed. The USA Junior Nationals offers competitions at approximately 42 sites in the spring with competitions scheduled throughout the South, the Midwest, and the east and west coasts. Athletes who demonstrate advanced skills, team leadership, competitive spirit and good sportsmanship go to the next level of play which is the USA Junior Nationals “International Sports Festival” in Columbus.
