The revival that was held at Hopewell
No. 1 for three nights July 11 to 13 was a great success. Devotion was
led by the deacons. Invitation was extended each night and the 110th
chapter of Romans was read each night. Pastor S.A. Phillips was our
evangelist and delivered some inspiring sermons from the subjects: Wednesday
night - The Supreme Questions; Thursday night - Let Us Make A Deal;
Friday night - Why the Four Gospels? Beautiful music was provided by
Hopewell No. 1 Choir and Pleasant Grove Male Chorus. Present during
revival were Pastor W.C. Conner of Smith Grove Church; Rev. Clark, evangelist,
his wife and part of his family, Mrs. Estelle Byers, Mrs. Fenner, Pleasant
Grove members and many others. Wife of the evangelist brought the most
people to the revival. Pastor James will give them a treat at Barn Hill’s
restaurant. Following the Friday night service, refreshments were served
to the group in the fellowship hall. Henderson Milan will undergo minor
surgery Monday, July 23, at Northeast Medical Center in Tupelo.
