SocietyCity Personals Joneses return from Hawaiian vacation Saturday, the Firecrackers 10 and under softball team, had an “after the season” celebration. The girls were presented with certificates from their head coach, Rob Hug. Everyone enjoyed an afternoon of swimming, eating grilled hotdogs, watermelon and homemade ice cream. The girls are all looking forward to another season! Those who attended were Breanna Hug, Caitlyn Brooks, Maura Jane Autry, Wesleyann Ray and Miracle Jones. Several of the team members were missing due to vacations and tournament play for little brothers! Ki and Nancy Jones and children, Jake and Mary Neely, have just returned from a fabulous Hawaiian vacation. While on their trip, Ki celebrated a big birthday - flipping a number! Happy birthday, Ki, and welcome home to all! Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hager of Columbus visited with her sister, Mary J. Paschal of Holly Springs. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Robert Miller of Holly Springs announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Cathryn Bramel to James Bradley Douglas, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Earl Douglas Jr. of Charleston. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Linwood Graham Miller of Holly Springs, Mrs. Robert George Walker of Holly Springs and the late Mr. Walker of Vicksburg. The prospective groom is the grandson of Mrs. Ishmiael Clarence James and the late Mr. James and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Earl Douglas, Sr. all of Charleston, Mississippi. Miss Miller is a graduate of Marshall Academy. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in education from the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. This fall she will be teaching in the Starkville School District. Mr. Douglas is a graduate of Strider Academy. He is attending Mississippi State University, pursuing a degree in business administration. He is employed by Mississippi State University as the director of support services. The couple will exchange vows at 6 in the evening July 28 at the First Presbyterian Church in Holly Springs, followed by a reception at Montrose. Couple to wed July 19 at Grace Baptist
Mary Cooper announces the engagement and forthcoming wedding of her daughter, Angie Joanne Cooper of Byhalia, to Thomas Andrew Wayman of Johnson City, N.Y. Angie is also the daughter of the late Johnny Cooper Sr. The bride is the granddaughter of Rabon and Mamie McCord and Rodelle and Norma Cooper. She graduated from Grace Baptist School. The groom is the son of William and Kathy Wayman of Johnson City, N.Y. He is the grandson of William Wayman Sr. and Dawn Wayman of Johnson City, NY. He graduated in 2004 from Victory Baptist School. He is employed with Olm’s. The wedding will be at 2 p.m. on July 19, 2007 at Grace Baptist Church on Cayce Road. Family and friends are cordially invited. Bobby Sims of Holly Springs and Jacqueline Shaw of Grand Prairie, Texas announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Shanetta Moena Sims to Louis Labarreon Parker, son of Louis and Dorothy Parker of Victoria. Shanetta is the paternal granddaughter of the late Edward “B.B.” Sims and the late Lizzie Davis of Marianna. She is the maternal granddaughter of the late J.T. Dean and Mary Lou Dean of Waterford. Shanetta is a technology applications teacher at E.B. Comstock Middle School in Dallas, Texas. She is a 2000 honors graduate of Holly Springs High School where she was a member of the “Superior” rated choir. She received a BA in business administration from Mississippi State University. Shanetta is a prestigious member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She is currently pursuing a master’s of counseling Education degree from Prairie View A&M University in Dallas, Texas. Louis is the paternal grandson of Sandy Parker and the late Hattie Parker of Victoria. He is the maternal grandson of the late Emma Dell Hill of Victoria. He is a 1999 graduate of Byhalia High School. In 2005, he received an associate’s degree in heating ventilation and air conditioning from Vatterott College of Memphis, Tenn. He currently works as a diesel technician for Briggs Equipment Company in Dallas, Texas. The wedding ceremony will take place at Anderson Chapel CME Church, July 21 in Holly Springs at 5 p. m. The reception will follow at Dreamland USA. All family and friends are invited to attend. Birth Announcement Richardson Corby and Cindy Richardson of Wayland, Iowa (formerly of Holly Springs) announce the birth of their son, Corey Dean Richardson. Corey Dean was born May 16, 2007 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He weighed seven pounds, nine ounces and was 21 inches long. Corey was welcomed by a brother, Allen Leach of New Albany; a sister, Mallory Leach of Fulton; a brother, Phillip Richardson of Wayland, Iowa, and a nephew Cody Adam Gullick of Fulton. Maternal grandparents are the late Bobby Gadd of Potts Camp and Sandra Jones of Holly Springs. Great-grandmother is Olivia Colston of Holly Springs. Paternal grandparents are the late Phillip Richardson of Mackinaw, Ill., and Willadean Richardson of Wayland, formerly of Holly Springs. Museuming Celebrating America’s birthday I had an all-American Fourth of July. The fireworks were bursting across the sky and it was a wonderful way to celebrate the 231st birthday of America. |
