The National Youth Sports Program, which had an abbreviated season at Rust College this spring, had its closing ceremony on Friday, June 22.
The program served only a fraction of the youth which it normally serves. This was due to lack of federal funds.
Dr. Ishmell Edwards, vice president of Rust and also the NYSP director, said in his welcome to those attending the closeout program that this was perhaps the last session. Rust has been staging the local NYSP for about 30 years.
There were numerous awards handed out for the various activities and the crowd was entertained by dance routines from different age groups.
