Stakeholders discuss red light

About
10 representatives from businesses on Craft Street (Hwy. 7 South)
attended a meeting June 22 to discuss their preferences for the
location of a traffic light and intersection, according to public works
director Don Hollingsworth.
“It
was a pretty good meeting with representatives from the grocery store
and the two banks included,” Hollingsworth said.
“They all agreed that something needs to be done. Egress and
ingress of customers is a problem.”
The traffic
light will be located at J.M. Ash Drive and a connector road will be
constructed to allow traffic to flow from Craft to West Boundary
Extended leading to the new medical center and hospital, he said.
The road
through the Holly Springs Commons will also join West Boundary
extended.
From there
traffic can flow to Old Highway 78 which offers easy routes to the Town
of Byhalia and access to Highway 7 North, Highway 311 going to Mt.
Pleasant and Highway 4 East going to Ashland and Ripley.
The loop
will take some of the congestion off Memphis Street, the present direct
route through Holly Springs.
