Mt. Pleasant Lions continue registration until June 15 for football, cheerleading

The Mt. Pleasant Lions Youth Football and Cheer Organization is accepting applications for participation in both football and cheerleading for the 2007 season.

Children from ages 7-16, both boys and girls, who are interested in football and cheerleading are eligible to participate. It is very important that children are registered soon for guaranteed inclusion. The registration fee is $35 (non-refundable) per participant. This registration period ends Friday, June 15. After this time, late fees will be assessed. Other requirements include: 1. copy of last report card; 2. sports physical report; 3. certified copy of birth certificate.

Our camp was a huge success with over 70 participants, over 20 parent volunteers and coaches. The football players were taught drills and proper warm-up exercises, and team-oriented discussions were held. Coach Steve Miller, Northwest Community College recruiting coordinator, spoke with the football players about the game of football, character, attitude, and what it takes to get to the next level.

The cheerleaders learned how to properly stretch, proper techniques for moves and motions, over 15 cheers, and as well as team-building exercises/discussion. It was fun for all who attended.
