SocietyCity Personals Helene Doxey of Waveland visits Hallie Chatham recently On the 16th of May, both of Jim and Sandy White’s children and three grandchildren arrived from Austin, Texas., so they could caravan together up to Dayton, Ohio. Jim’s 97-year-old father lives there. They all went to see him, as well as Jim’s sister, Anne, their niece and her family. Heather and Devlin stopped in Little Rock, Ark., to visit with Marie Moore Holder, before traveling on to Holly Springs. Chris and Cathy White and twins, Connor and Olivia, arrived late the night of the 16th. They arrived in Ohio on the 18th, returning to Holly Springs on the 23rd. Heather and Devlin started back to Austin right away. Chris’s family stayed with the Whites until the next day and left for Austin on Friday, the 25th. Hank Wheeler of Newnan, Ga., was the guest of Mary Clay and Gene Brooks and children, Caitlyn and Grady, last week. He also visited with Kay and Laura Wheeler. While here, he attended the Lil’ Sluggers T-ball game and games of the Firecrackers softball team. Helene Doxey of Waveland spent several days last week with Hallie Chatham. Ki, Nancy, Jake and Mary Neely Jones, Fred, Patti, Thomas and Banks Carlisle, Robin and Ben Seale, Johnny and John Austin Valentine, Ellis Stubbs, Camille Shaw, Ed Bounds, Bo Bonds, John Travis Lomenick, Bubba and Jane Hubbard and Charlie, Jane, Buddy and Frannie Farris all cooked out over the weekend in Oxford while watching the Ole Miss Rebel baseball games. Mr. and Mrs. Doc Billingsley of Laws Hill and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Campbell of Oxford are proud to announce the engagement of their daughter Angela Michelle Campbell to Lance Keith Knighton. Keith is the son of Stella Knighton of Laws Hill and Fort Knighton of Ashland. Miss Campbell’s maternal grandparents are Sarah Cook and the late George Cook of Laws Hill. Paternal grandparents are Lena Campbell and the late Howard (Gordy) Campbell of Holly Springs. Angela is a high school graduate of Marshall Academy in Holly Springs and attended Northwest Community College, where she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Society. Angela received an associate of applied science degree in medical office technology. Miss Campbell is currently enrolled at the University of Mississippi, where she is working toward a degree in pharmacy. Angela is currently employed as a licensed pharmacy technician with Chaney’s Pharmacy in Oxford. Mr. Knighton’s maternal grandparents are Elsie Joyner and the late Henry Carroll Joyner of Barton. Paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Jodie Knighton of Laws Hill. Keith is a graduate of Potts Camp High School and earned a degree in civil engineering technology at Northwest Community College in Senatobia. He is a licensed professional land surveyor and a member of the Mississippi Association of Professional Surveyors. He currently holds the position of district surveyor senior with the Mississippi Department of Transportation at the Batesville office. Following their wedding, the couple will make their home in Waterford. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 6 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Laws Hill. All friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend. The reception will be held at 7 p.m. at Oak Palace in Holly Springs. Mandy Carpenter and Danny Hurdle say vows in May 7 ceremony
Elbert D. Carpenter and the late Katherine Miller Carpenter of Lamar announce the marriage of their daughter Mandy Cherrise Carpenter of Lamar to Daniel Phillip Hurdle of Holly Springs. She is the granddaughter of Linda Miller and the late Lamar Miller of Michigan City and the late Travis and Ruby Carpenter of Lamar. She is a 1995 high school graduate, and a 2002 graduate of Concorde Career College in dental assisting. She is employed with Dr. John H. Jones in Holly Springs. Daniel is the son of Jakey and Kay Hurdle of Holly Springs and Charles Swenson and Elizabeth Swenson of Orlando, Fla. He is the grandson of the late Jake Hurdle and Dorothy Hurdle of Holly Springs and the late Gordan Sigman and Beulah Sigman of Mt. Pleasant. He is a 1999 high school graduate and majored in business and real estate at Northwest Community College. He is employed with Century 21 in Olive Branch. The wedding was held on May 7, 2007 at 3 p.m. in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Gatlinburg, Tenn. After a honeymoon in Gatlinburg, the couple is at home in Holly Springs. Regina Garrison to wed James Martin June 9 at Springfield MB Church
Regina Jean Garrison, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Woodrow Garrison of Byhalia, and James Arthur Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Martin of Cordova, Tenn., announce their forthcoming marriage on June 9, 2007 at 4 p.m. The ceremony will take place at Springfield MB Church in Southaven. The reception will be held at the Desoto Civic Center in Southaven. After their honeymoon in Gatlinburg, Tenn., they will make their home in Cordova, Tenn.
Leslie Barrentine to wed John Faulkenbery June 30 in Brandon
Mr. and Mrs. George W. Barrentine of Brandon announce the engagement of their daughter, Leslie Ann Barrentine, to John Ripley Faulkenbery, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Faulkenbery of Eupora. The bride-elect is the paternal granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Barrentine of Brandon, and the maternal granddaughter of Carol Bourne and the late Billy Don Bourne of Pearl. The prospective groom is the paternal grandson of Joan Faulkenbery of Eupora, and the late Rip Faulkenbery of Ashland. His maternal grandparents are Vera Young and the late W.T. Young of Holly Springs. Miss Barrentine is a 2002 graduate of Brandon High School. She is a 2004 graduate of Holmes Community College, where she earned an associate’s degree in the arts, and a 2007 graduate of Pearl River Community College, where she earned an associate’s degree in applied science in radiography. She plans to continue her education at Mississippi State University. Mr. Faulkenbery is a 2000 graduate of Eupora High School. He is a 2003 graduate of Holmes Community College, where he earned a certificate of completion in welding, brazing and soldering. He is employed as a welder at Taylor Machine Works in Louisville. Marriage vows will be exchanged June 30 at First United Methodist Church in Brandon. A reception will follow. After a honeymoon trip to Jamaica, the couple will reside in Starkville. Stephen Smith and Elizabeth Miller say vows May 19 at Christ Church Dr. Elizabeth Lee Miller and Stephen Lynn Smith were married May 19, 2007, at Christ Episcopal Church in Holly Springs. Father Bruce McMillen performed the ceremony. Museuming The winds of change Holly Springs is changing every day. Last week while I was entertaining the DAR in my living room, there were helicopters circling over my house. They were looking for an escaped prisoner who was loose for several hours. Then the helicopters landed and the hunt was over. Our great lawmen had caught the rascal. Report News:
