Bonds chosen for state all-star game By BARRY BURLESON
Marshall Academy will be represented in this week’s Mississippi Private School Association all-star baseball games. Bo Bonds, a member of the 2007 graduating class at MA, will play for the North AA-AAA stars when they face the South AA-AAA squad Friday at 12 noon. The North A and South A all-star contest will follow at 3 p.m. Both will be played at Trustmark Park in Pearl, home of the minor league Mississippi Braves. “This is a great honor for Bo, and it’s great for our baseball program and our school,” said Jimmy Hicks, head coach of the Patriots. “It will be a great experience for him.” Bonds hit .347 for Marshall in his senior season. He had 25 hits, 23 runs-batted-in and five stolen bases. His on-base percentage was .484. He had nine doubles and one triple. The Patriots finished 27-5, the most wins in school history. They were eliminated in the second round of the state AA playoffs. Other members of the North AA-AAA all-star baseball team include A.J. Lee, Washington School; Allen Cheek, Carroll Academy, Brent Gay, Jackson Academy; Hunter Fondren, Lee (Clarksdale) Academy; Hunter Harris, Jackson Academy; Hunter Palasini, Indianola Academy; Jonathan Red, Magnolia Heights School; Justin Moore, Leake Academy; Kyle Wever, Manchester Academy; Lake Eiland, Simpson Academy; Logan McDowell, Jackson Academy; Nic Bethany, Central Hinds Academy; Ryan Herrdigton, Simpson Academy; Spencer Brunson, Starkville Academy; Wade Kinsey, Heritage Academy; Walt Montgomery, Carroll Academy; Will Cox, Oak Hill Academy. Head coach for the North AA-AAA squad is Marion Bratton of Oak Hill. He will be assisted by T.J. Jennings of Winston and Bart Jenkins of Pillow. Jenkins is a former coach at Marshall. Coaches and players were scheduled to report on Wednesday of this week. Activities will include a banquet on Thursday. Report News:
