Honors Day program held at H.W. Byers On Wednesday, May 16, an Honors Day program was held for all students who achieved Honor Roll status at any time during the school year, for those students who maintained perfect attendance and for all seniors. Although the Honor Roll students are awarded a certificate each nine weeks, principal Gary Hannah honored all students with medallions and certificates to show his appreciation for their hard work academically. Mavis Robinson was awarded a plaque in honor of achieving Superintendent’s Honor Roll on a consistent basis throughout her four years of high school. Kourtney Coleman and Kimberly Young received academic trophies in honor of achieving Superintendent’s Honor Roll consistently throughout their seventh and eighth grade years. A total of 46 students were cited for Honor Roll achievement throughout the school year. Seventh grade: Alexis Hardaway, Stadeetra Jones, Telisha Jones, Kavellia McAuley, Jermerica Moore, Eighth grade: Cameron Brittain, Kimberly Young*, Kourtney Coleman*, Emily Halley, Brianna Hughes, Andre C. Jones, Kala Williams, Katery Lopez, Rosalyn Penilton, Dionna Walker, Tanisha Jones, Tenth grade: Terdarin W. Bryson, Robin Dacus, Kenyata Gulledge, Erica Hampton, Sara Anderson, Ciara Seldon, Sean Maness, Aron Morales, Eleventh grade: David Glass, Marian Parker, Jerrica Luellen, Marvin Rayford, Erica Walker, Kearee Jackson, Adrine Young, Simone Ryan, Twelth grade: Melissa Anderson, LeTasha Anderson, Whitney Gant, Victoren Hooker, Corrandra Scott, John Seldon, Telisa Young, William Austin, Brittany Todd, Heather Whitehurst, Sonia Garrison, Mavis Robinson* *Superintendent’s Honor Roll The following students were honored for perfect attendance: Seventh Grade: Alexis Hardaway, Keshunna Holloway, Stadeetra Jones, Materrious Rayford, Dominique Rubbin, Aquila Scott, Ariel Taylor, Eighth Grade: Kimberly Young, Ninth grade: Marcus Rayford, Joel Reed, Twelth grade: Whitney Gant and Telisa Young. H.W. Byers is proud of all our students who excelled this school year. During the Honors Day Program, Subject-Area Awards were given to the seniors who maintained the highest average in specific courses from the ninth to the 12th grade. Recipients of the awards were: Mavis Robinson, English Award, Math Award, Social Studies Award, and Science Award; Heather Whitehurst, Reading Award; and Telisa Young, Writing Award. Seniors also received Who’s Who Awards, awards that the Senior Class selected. They included: Most Likely to Succeed: Mavis Robinson and Victoren Hooker; Most Intelligent: Mavis Robinson and Victoren Hooker; Most Athletic: Brittany Todd and Tristan Kizer; Most Popular: Jasmine Harris and Victoren Hooker; Friendliest: Beverly Faulkner and Gerard Marion; Best Personality: Beverly Faulkner and Brandon Starnes; Most Attractive: Bionka Kizer and Victoren Hooker; Best Dressed: Jasmine Harris and Harvey Garrison; Class Clown: Lakesha Luellen and Darrius Wells; and Cutest Couple: LeTasha Anderson and Christopher Moore.
