EducationMarshall Academy hands out high school academic awards Marshall Academy teachers and administrators passed out lots of honors Monday, May 14, during the academic annual high school awards night ceremony. It was held at First Presbyterian Church in Holly Springs. Honors Day program held at H.W. Byers On Wednesday, May 16, an Honors Day program was held for all students who achieved Honor Roll status at any time during the school year, for those students who maintained perfect attendance and for all seniors. Although the Honor Roll students are awarded a certificate each nine weeks, principal Gary Hannah honored all students with medallions and certificates to show his appreciation for their hard work academically.
Byers Elementary participates in drive The students of kindergarten through sixth grade at H.W. Byers Elementary School in Marshall County participated in a program called “Pennies for Patients.” The monies donated from the students were collected and given to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help people with leukemia and other blood cancers. H.W. Byers Elementary principal Dixie Pye supported the program and encouraged her students to work diligently with this fund raising project. Under the leadership of Sabrina Porter, the children raised a grand total of $1,900. The first place winner went to Mollie Dunigan and her fifth grade students. Her class raised the most money and will receive the reward of a pizza party for all of their hard work. \The second place winner goes to Dorothy Harris and her sixth grade students. Special thanks go out to Dorothy Harris, Carolyn Curtis, Doris J. Dunigan and Riddle Construction Company for their generous contributions as well. Mississippi native graduates seminary Eric Boswell, the son of Frank and Diane Boswell of Holly Springs, received a Master of Arts in Christian education degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, May 11. Boswell graduated from Briarcrest Christian School in 1999 and Mississippi University for Women in 2004. Report News:
