Proverbs 22:6 Sunday, May 27, 3 p.m., all roads will lead to Greenfield Presbyterian Church for the annual Calendar Drive and Youth Day program. Bring your youth to take part. The speaker will be none other than Minister Thaddeus Jefferson. He has a message for the old and the young. Hear ye him! News Hopewell No. 1 hosts Mother’s Day program An enjoyable Mother’s Day was celebrated at Hopewell No. 1 Mother’s Day. Devotion was led by the deacons. Deacon Michael Crittle led in Responsive Reading. Sick report was given by mistress of ceremony. Welcome by Sis. Cora Walton. Origin of Mother’s Day was given by Curressia Walton. Solo by Sis. Doris Waller. Gifts were presented to four elderly ladies. Flowers were presented to all mothers by Pastor James. Roses were presented to others. To tell how much you love your mother with Pastor James in charge. Sis. Cynthia Cole was named Mother of the Year. Our guests were the DeBerry sisters and brother and wife Mr. and Mrs. James Reliford of St. Louis Mr. Reliford is the son of Rethie Ann Reliford. We closed by singing “Reach Out and Touch Somebody’s Hand.” We wish to express our sympathy and love to the family of Marvin Baird. Services were held Saturday, May 12, 1 p.m. at Ashland High School with his son delivering the eulogy. Mr. Baird was a retired school teacher. Ruth Helen Fortenberry attended the commencement exercises at the University to see her niece Bridget Elmore receive her master’s degree. Her daughter LaCressia Bearden will receive a Ph.D. degree in education June 9 from the University of Sarasota. Report News:
