New leadership class launches this month By SUE WATSON The final call is out for enrollment in the 2007 LeadershipPlenty Class, according to Susan Jordan, executive director of the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce. The fee for enrollment is $200 with class enrollment cut-off set at 30. The class opens with a two-day retreat at Kirkwood National Golf Club on January 25-26. Attendance at the retreat is mandatory for graduation. Classes meet one day a month thereafter and training concludes with graduation in June. This is the third LeadershipPlenty Class to be held in Marshall County with close to 50 graduates and the list grows each year. Former graduates participate in some aspects of the course including graduation exercises. Members benefit by expanding their knowledge of themselves and their natural leadership styles; they learn how to conduct a meeting; they become aware of the communities resources; they build networking skills and form professional friendships that can last a lifetime. Graduates cite new friendships forged as a major byproduct of the course. They enjoy the camaraderie more than anything else at training meetings. Bottom line - they have lots of fun while they learn. “The objective is to build and maintain a network of leaders who have skills and commitment to work together for the good of Marshall County,” said Sarah Sawyer, executive director of the Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce. Sponsors are being sought to support the costs of providing invited motivational speakers, the graduation banquet and other costs. Business partnerships are offered at two levels. At the $200 level the business or corporate name and logo will be listed on promotional materials, announced at meetings and provided to local media. The $200 level includes inclusion of the business card and brochures in gift bags, gifts of appreciation and tickets for two at graduation. Partnering at the $100 level includes the above and one ticket to graduation. To join as a partner and show the commitment of your business to leadership, the Marshall County Leadership Class, advertise and network and promote leadership development, call the Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce at 662-838-8127 or the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce at 662-252-2943 and ask for an application form. Deadline to become a partner is January 19, 2007. Members of former classes and their occupations at the time they attended are listed as follows: Class of 2005
Class of 2006
