Byers track stars were at Pearl last weekend to participate in the annual state track and field trials.
Parks and recreation offers aerobics, Tai Kwon Do classes The Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department is having aerobics classes for women on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. There is a $15 monthly fee. The department is also offering Tai Kwon Do classes on Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. The fee is $35 per month. Both of these activities are held at the Eddie L. Smith Jr. Multi-Purpose Building on Memphis Street. For more information on the classes, contact the Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department, 252-4807. MA’s Adams claims high finishes at state Brent Adams brought home one second-place and two third-place awards from the State AA Track Meet at Mississippi College. The Marshall Academy junior finished second in the high jump (6-0), third in the long jump (20-11) and third in the triple jump (40-3.5). Gene Alexin placed fifth in the high jump (5-6). The field events were held Friday in Clinton. The Marshall Academy 400 meter relay team placed sixth (46.3) in running events held Saturday. Running for MA were Hank Owens, Alexin, Wesley Harris and Adams. Johnson, Brown take second at state Holly Springs High School had two silver medalists in last weekend’s State Class 3A Track Meet at Pearl. James Johnson finished second in the shot put (47-6), and Desley Brown placed second in the 800 meter run (2:04). Pierce signs with Blue Mountain Joy Pierce, a 5’11” forward from Cayce, has signed to played with the Blue Mountain College Lady Toppers beginning this fall. Sharp, Barstow lead Lady Cards at state meet Two Potts Camp Lady Cardinals represented their school well in the State 2A Track Meet last weekend at Pearl. Shantae Sharp finished fourth in the 400 meter dash (1:01.51). Coach Karen Green said she was then unable to run in the 200 meter dash due to sickness. Amanda Barstow placed fifth in the 3200 meter run (13:44) and eighth in the 800 meter run (2:45.76). The Lady Cardinals finished 15th in team rankings out of 34 schools participating. Report News:
