Police investigate shooting
Holly Springs police responded to a call of gun fire in the 200 block of W. Boundary and College Street, Wednesday, May 2, at about 3:20 p.m., according to chief Robert Pearson.
On May 3, officers were called to Alliance HealthCare System hospital on a report of a male subject with a gunshot wound to the lower back area.
“Upon arrival, the victim was identified as James Campbell, 26, of Holly Springs,” Pearson said. “Statements were obtained from the victim but no arrest has been made. Holly Springs Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident.”
In an incident last weekend, Herman B. Woods, 42, of Holly Springs was arrested and charged with domestic violence/aggravated assault.
Woods is alleged to have cut a female several times with a knife, Pearson said.
Officers also responded to the following activities last week - no proof of insurance (five); expired tag (two); no driver’s license or expired license (two); driving while license suspended (five); seat belt violation (two); and speeding (10).
Pearson advises motorists that the school speed zone is 15 miles per hour and the police department will be enforcing these zones.
