Pierce signs with Blue Mountain
Joy Pierce, a 5’11” forward from Cayce, has signed to played with the Blue Mountain College Lady Toppers beginning this fall. Head women’s basketball coach Lavon Driskell said, “We are very pleased and excited to have signed Joy to play basketball with BMC. Anytime you sign a person of her caliber, plus someone with her basketball abilities, you have to be excited about what she brings to your college and team.” Pierce has played basketball for the Memphis-area Home Education Association (MHEA) for the past five years. For the past three years, she has helped lead her team to the ACCE Tournament Championship held in Atlanta. Pierce’s team also won the Regional Home School Championship that was played in Nashville for the past two years. In 2007, the team won the National Championship for 18 and under in the 5A Division of the National Christian Homeschool Basketball Championship tournament held in Oklahoma City. Pierce has surpassed 2,800 points in her varsity career with over 1000 rebounds. She has received six Most Valuable Player awards and was named the MVP All-American this year in the NCHBC tournament. Blue Mountain College is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the TranSouth Athletic Conference. Coach Driskell is in the process of rebuilding the Lady Toppers team due to six graduating seniors. He said, “I know Joy will play a major role in lifting BMC to prominence in the TranSouth Conference and nationally.” Report News:
