Johnson, Brown take second at state Holly Springs High School had two silver medalists in last weekend’s State Class 3A Track Meet at Pearl. James Johnson finished second in the shot put (47-6), and Desley Brown placed second in the 800 meter run (2:04). Also for the Hawks, Cordell Stephens finished eighth in the state in the discus (121-00). And members of the 4x200 meter relay team – Justin Crumb, James Johnson, Darryl Kinkle and Brandon Thomas – placed fifth (1:31). Holly High was 10th out of 34 schools competing in Class 3A. “All in all, it was a good year,” said coach Clifford Brown, completing his third year at the helm of the track program. “We’ve medaled at state every year since I’ve been doing track (two gold, four silver and one bronze). The kids have worked hard. I’m proud of them.” Report News:
