Pre-registration set at H.W. Byers

Pre-registration will be held at H.W. Byers Elementary School on Monday, May 21 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and Tuesday, May 17 from 3 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Parents, please bring with you the following documents in order to complete registration:

1. Mississippi Immunization Compliance Form (get this from the Health Dept.)

2. Certified copy of child’s birth certificate (not mother’s copy).

3. Child’s Social Security card.

4. Two proofs of residence (light bill, rent lease/mortgage, garbage bill, gas bill, water bill) in parent/legal guardian’s name.

Friendship Christian Academy news

At FCA the students have a lot to look forward to. With “Career Week” this week they have been introduced to many new choices of careers.

Carey Freeze came to share his experience in physical therapy and his testimony of how God will place you in the right career choice if you let Him and are aware of His calling. Amber Hailey also came to share her experience in the field of dentistry and explained the importance of good dental hygiene. Ray Tilley brought his experiences in over-the-road transportation, and management skills. Friday, Ron Childers of News Channel 5 shared different aspects of the meteorology field.

Other activities at FCA include classes taking field trips to FunQuest in Collierville to learn more about working together as a team and just enjoying a good day of fun.

The annual school carnival was held Friday, May 4. Each year the students enjoy having a day outside playing on inflatables, games, water slides, with face painting, food and lots of fun. This year they will have many new and exciting challenges like parachute rides, big foot races, Slip’n Slides, dunk tanks, shoot out electronic basketball, relay racing and much, much more.

HSI School calendar of events

Teacher’s Appreciation Day: Holly Springs Intermediate School is inviting parents and community leaders to come and show their appreciation to teachers by allowing them to have a duty-free lunch on Wednesday, May 9. Come and supervise the cafeteria anytime from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. For more information, you can contact Beverly Phillips at 252-7733.

MCT II will be given on Thursday, May 10 to all grades at the Holly Springs Intermediate School. We will need volunteer proctors. You can call Beverly Phillips at 252-7733 if you would like help.

Holly Springs Intermediate School Fun Day will be held on Friday, May 11.

Frank Swords Academic Awards Breakfast will be held on Saturday, May 12 at 8 a.m. in the cafeteria (invitation only).

Potts Camp senior class at Disneyworld
The Potts Camp senior class recently took a trip to Florida for their senior trip. The senior sponsors, Pat Kennedy and Tim Carter, accompanied the seniors along with the assistant principal, Ray Kennedy. They left the school Thursday afternoon, April 19 on a Barkley Travel Bus and rode all night. They arrived in Kissimmee around 9 a.m. Friday and spent the day at Wet N Wild Water Park. They went to Downtown Disney Friday night for an evening of shopping. The group spent all day Saturday at Daytona Beach. Saturday night was a special night for the seniors. Disneyworld was open from 10 Saturday night until 4 Sunday morning for 2007 graduating seniors and their chaperones. Disneyworld planned special activities all night just for the seniors. When the park closed, the group headed back home.

Of that number 1547 have applied for bachelor’s degrees, 279 have applied for master’s degrees, 49 for doctoral degrees, 13 for specialist degrees, and 133 for law practice degrees (Juris Doctor).
