School safety stressed at D.A.R.E. event By SUE WATSON With the nation still reeling from the Virginia Tech massacre last week, school administrators and law officers used much of the program time at Friday’s D.A.R.E. graduation to assure fifth grade students and encourage them to tell someone when they feel unsafe. Holly Springs police nab burglary suspect Holly Springs police officers arrested Anthony Phillips, 35, on burglary charges stemming from a breaking and entering in the 200 block of Richmond Street April 14, according to chief Robert Pearson. Officers also responded to the following activities last week: no proof of insurance (4); expired tag (2); no driver’s license or expired license (3); driving with license suspended (2); disorderly conduct (1); simple assault (1); trespassing (1); and malicious mischief (1).
