NewsbriefsSign-up deadline Monday for AARP Safe Driving class An AARP Safe Driving class has been scheduled at the Marshall County Library in Holly Springs for April 24 and 25. The class will meet from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day. AARP Safe Driving classes are eight-hour driver education refresher courses for drivers 50 years of age and over. The law in Mississippi mandates that students 55 years of age and up who complete the class be entitled to receive an appropriate discount on their automobile insurance premium for the following three years. You do not have to be a member of AARP to enroll and you will not be required to pass any exams or tests. You must attend both four-hour sessions to receive your completion certificate. To register for the class, call 662-252-3823 at the library before April 23. A $10 materials fee is payable at the start of the first day of class. Class size will be limited to 25 students. Please pay by cash only. Holly Springs Chamber plans quarterly luncheon April 26 The Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce will hosts its quarterly luncheon Thursday, April 26, at 12 noon at Dreamland. Guest speaker will be State Senator Ralph Doxey (District 2), who will speak on activities in the State Legislature during the 2007 session. Introductions of all candidates who have qualified for the upcoming election will be made during the luncheon. All candidates are invited to attend. Tickets are $10 if purchased or reserved in advance, $12 at the door. Call the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce at 252-2943 for more information. Dumpsters available at county locations until April 23 The Marshall County Board of Supervisors is providing dumpsters at the following locations for your convenience, through April 23. Please pitch in and make our county a cleaner place to live. • Laws Hill Community Center, Cayce Fire Department, Potts Camp Fire Department, Slayden Community Center, Chulahoma Community Center, Waterford Community Center, Red Banks Fire Department, Watson Community Center, Byhalia Fire Department, Hwy. 309 North, Matthews Corner voting precinct, Lake Estates – Scott Drive, Marianna Voting Precinct, Wall Hill Voting Precinct, Early Grove Community Center, Bethlehem Community, Mt Pleasant – The Gin, Victoria Community Center. Please, no brush or household garbage. The Marshall County Rubbish Pit and White Goods Collection Site is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Wednesday and Saturday.
