New county website under construction By SUE WATSON It’s still an unfinished project, but the county can be visited at its official website, marshallcoms.org. Although some of the on-line pages are not finished, visitors can get a taste of what the website will look like and information that will be available. There is a listing of county departments, contact persons and phone numbers, a page on the court system, an elected officials page, an election central page, a directory of restaurants and churches, a school page, a calender of events, a list of organizations and a news link. The elections central link has a place where residents can type in their address and the program will show where to go vote, according to Lucy Carpenter, circuit clerk. “There is also a voting machine demonstration on that page that is available now,” she said. “And under the court page, we will have some information for jurors and publish court terms. I will also be able to provide jurors instructions, once they are summoned, and the instructions will tell day-to-day whether to come to court or not.” For newcomers, those thinking about moving to the county, prospective visitors as well as citizens of the county, the website will provide a wealth of information about the communities in the county as well as the people’s business. As the website is still under construction, there is plenty of time for citizens to pass along suggestions that could make the site more informative. Call the office of chancery clerk Chuck Thomas at 662-252-4431 or the county administrator’s office at 662-252-7903 to recommend how to make the website better. The county website is being designed and constructed by Irv Priest with EyeMajic. Report News:
