Byers honors team By CLAUDE VINSON
The Lady Lions, who made history throughout their just completed basketball season, added another accolade to their resume last Thursday. The entire Byers school family honored them with a special day of recognition on campus. Head coach Jason Thompson gave certificates of recognition to persons in the community who have supported the Lady Lions in their endeavors. He tendered certificates to Raleigh Redd, Larry Britt, Charles King, Chuck Thomas, Levi McFadden, Willie Isom, Jacqueline Scott, Claude Vinson and Lawrence White. Also in attendance were Gary Hannah, principal; Sylvester Kilgore, head coach of the Lions; Gerone Kirkland, former longtime head coach of the Lions; Don Randolph, superintendent of education; and R.C. Anderson, assistant superintendent. A hospitality room was set up wit the fare for which Byers has come to be noted. The departing seniors were recognized and honored at a “pep rally” held in the gym. Singled out for their contributions to the Lady Lions’ remarkable success were Latasha Anderson, Lanika Hake. Brittany Todd and Jessica Smith. The day was capped with the long ball shooters of the Lady Lions throwing out a challenge to any takers. Coach Thompson said if he participated, he would have to take it easy on his players. Report News:
