Tree planting ceremony at Strawberry Plains held in memory of Rob Warren

Weekend guests in the home of Susan and Jimmy Warren were their daughter, Alexis Williams of Ocean Springs, and Susan’s sister, Stacey Pace of Hattiesburg. They were here especially to participate in the tree planting ceremony at Strawberry Plains in memory of Rob Warren.

Alice Long and Tess Sickler travelled last week to Deland, Fla., where they visited with Lucy and Jack Cheney and their daughter, Pat. They drove over to Daytona, Fla., to see Hal Holbrook in “An Evening with Mark Twain.” While there, Alice visited with her good friends, Grady and Denette Jones and their children Adam, Katy and Lauren, in Oviedo, Fla.. Grady is the hand sign painter for Disney World.

The first of March, Dr. William Swafford of Boulder, Colo., and William Capelle of Gulfport, were up here completing a film project that they have been working on with Alice Long since 1973. William is a senior engineer with Dupont in Gulfport and William is working doing experimental lab work at a university outside of Boulder.

Happy 10th birthday
Hallie Kazemba and Anna Summerlin look on as Caitlyn Brooks makes that 10th birthday wish! Caitlyn Brooks, daughter of Gene and Mary Clay Brooks, celebrated her 10th birthday over the weekend. She had a slumber party on Friday night with a hamburger cookout, cake and ice cream and a magnitude of birthday gifts. Girls who attended were Hallie Kazemba, Lauren Quick of Byhalia, Anna Summerlin and Arin Leigh Valentine. Caitlyn’s brother, Grady, Kay and Laura Wheeler, grandmother and aunt, were also included in the festivities. Hank Wheeler of Newnan, Ga., Caitlyn’s granddaddy, spent the weekend with the Brooks’ family to celebrate the big birthday.

Birth Announcements

Moore
Shane and Nikki Moore of Lamar are proud to announce the birth of their first child, a daughter named Angel Nichole, born March 19, 2007 at 5:15 p.m. at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven. She weighed six pounds, four ounces and was 19-1/2 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Tony and Beverly Hood of Lamar. Great-grandparents are James and Charlotte Bryant of Lamar; Ann and Bill Leatherwood of Moscow, Tenn., and Carl and Emma Hood of Olive Branch.

Paternal grandparents are Gloria Moore of Grand Junction, Tenn., and Charlie Moore Jr. of Byhalia. Great-grandparents are Linda and Charlie Moore Sr. of Byhalia and James and Lydia Napper of Grand Junction, Tenn.

Busby
Hayli Grace Busby was born Nov. 28, 2006 at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven. She arrived weighing in at six pounds and three ounces, with a head full of beautiful dark hair.

Proud parents are Andy and B.J. Busby of Independence. Hayli Grace’s grandparents are Bill and Lessie Bailey of Byhalia, Chuck Busby of Independence and Deanna Busby of Olive Branch.
