Police investigate shooting By SUE WATSON Holly Springs police officers responded to a call to a shooting at a business in the 400 block of Van Dorn Sunday night and disbursed a crowd of about 200 gathered at the scene, according to police chief Robert Pearson. Darrell Moore, 24, of Holly Springs, was airlifted to The Med after he sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, Pearson said. Moore was thought to be in satisfactory condition Tuesday, the chief said. The incident occurred about 8:11 p.m. when police were called to the scene by 911 dispatch. One person was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct in connection with the disturbance, Pearson said. In separate incidents, officers investigated an aggravated assault call in the 700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. last week. They also investigated a burglary of a business in the 200 block of Van Dorn. Several tires and a radio were taken. Also last week, police officers were called to the 500 block of Highway 178 East to investigate an attempted theft at Noel’s (formerly Big Luke’s) car wash. Officers responded to 22 calls last week including: suspended driver’s license (2); simple assault/domestic violence (1); simple assault (1); disorderly conduct (1); driving under the influence (1); no driver’s license (1); vandalism (4); leaving the scene of an accident (3); auto burglary (2); cyber stalking (1); theft of a dog (1); telephone harassment (2) and stalking (2).
