He leaves his mother, Sarah Gatewood of Slayden; his fathers, Fred Cunningham Jr. of Holly Springs, Ricky Smith of Memphis, Tenn.; three sisters, Amelia Cunningham of Slayden, Marquetta Cunningham of Holly Springs, Nicole Jeffries of Memphis, Tenn.; and three brothers, Patrick Gatewood of Holly Springs, Erwin Chris Gatewood of Greenville, Bobby Jeffries of Memphis, Tenn. Pallbearers were Rico McKinney, Jeremy McGauhey, Bruce Bell, Desmon Walker, Antonio Crutcher and Demarcus Jones. Margia Jarrett Jeffries Margia Jarrett Jeffries, 82, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Holly Springs, died Feb. 24, 2007 in Resurrection Hospital in Chicago, Ill. She was the widow of Oliver Jeffries Sr. and a retired seamstress for J.B. Simpson for 30 years. Services were held at 11 a.m. on March 3 at Chicagoland Bible Fellowship in Chicago, Ill. Pastor Donald Raickett officiated. Burial was in Oakridge Cemetery in Hillside, Ill. A.A. Rayner and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. She leaves two sons, Oliver Jr. and James Wallace; a grandson, Michael; and two great-grandsons, Michael and Jaxs. Bobby Ray Jones Jr. Bobby Ray Jones Jr., 36, of Collierville, Tenn., formerly of Oxford, died March 7, 2007 in Marshall County. He was a self-employed car salesman and a Baptist. Services were held at 2 p.m. on March 10 at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford. Burial was in the Springhill Methodist Church Cemetery in Lafayette County. Bro. Jimmy Sockwell officiated. He leaves his wife, Pamela Alsup Jones; a son, Collin Baker Jones of Collierville; a daughter, Hayden Grace Jones of Collierville; a sister, Brandi Miller of Oxford; three brothers, Brandon Jones, Cody Jones, Josh Jones, all of Water Valley; his father, Bobby Ray Ray Jones Sr. of Water Valley; his grandfathers, John Baker Ratliff of Oxford, L.D. Jones of Water Valley. He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Diane Miller. A scholarship fund has been set up for his children. Brittany Jones Brittany Jones, 18, of Holly Springs, died March 2, 2007 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. At an early age she joined Hudsonville CME Church; she later joined Faith Temple COGIC. Services were held at 11 a.m. on March 10 at H.W. Byers School in Mt. Pleasant. Burial was in Faith Temple COGIC Cemetery. Elder Christopher Griggs officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. She leaves her mother, Gloria Jones and father Johnny Dowdy of Slayden; four brothers, Devin and Courvasler Jones, Josh and Johnathan Dowdy; a sister, Jeanea Dowdy; grandmothers, Loretta Jones of Slayden, Earnestine Luellen of Blue Mountain; grandfather, John Lee Dowdy of Slayden; and a great-grandmother, Christina Fitzpatrick. Willie Judon Willie (Tom) Judon, 64, of Ecru, died March 6, 2007 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. He was the widower of Eloise McAlister Judon. He was employed at KI/Krueger International. Services were held at 1 p.m. on March 13 at Cherry Creek Baptist Church in Ecru. Burial was in the church cemetery. Elder Marcell Judon officiated. Judon of Gary, Ind., Homer Joe of Racine, Wisc., Daniel Judon of New Albany; two sisters, Flora Holden of Portland, Ore., Addie Mae Clark of Sacramento, Calif.; and a special friend, Louise Golden. Barbara Jean Johnson Longest, 70, of Holly Springs, died March 7, 2007. She was a retired educator, having served as a teacher of English and French in the public schools of Mississippi and as an assistant professor and director of testing, career counseling and placement at Rust College. Services were held on March 12, at 10 a.m. at Anderson Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs. Burial was at Taylor’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Victoria. J. F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She leaves her husband of nearly 50 years, Wallace Longest; two daughters, Cyrana Longest Mott and Cereesa Longest Lacey; a sister, Edna Johnson Wright; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were Charles Terry, Dale DeBerry, Otis Russell, Charles Crouther, Russell Johnson, and Cedric Adams. Minnie Lee Poe Minnie Lee Poe, 79, of Oxford, formerly of Holly Springs, died March 3, 2007 at her home. She was the widow of Joe McLarty and Charles E. Bennett. She had been employed 15 years as a nurse. She was a former member of Abbeville Baptist Church. Services were held 2 p.m. on March 7 at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Abbeville Cemetery. Bro. Brett Williams and Bro. Higdon Herrington officiated. She leaves her husband, Chalmers L. Poe Sr.; five sons, Joseph McLarty of Tacoma, Wash., Eddie McLarty of Litchfield, Ill., John McLarty of Marks, Chalmers L. Poe Jr. of Billings, Mt. Ricky L. Poe of Oxford; four daughters, Mary Enright of Vincennes, Ind., Lottie McLarty of Oxford, Mary Massey of Hickory Flat, Shelly L. He was a member of Reid’s Gift MB Church in Potts Camp, a member of Bass Brother’s Fishing Club of Holly Springs and a retired fork lift operator with Federal Compress Warehouse in Holly Springs. Services were held at 1 p.m. on March 9 at Rising Star MB Church. Burial was in Pleasant Grove MB Church Cemetery in Red Banks. Rev. Robert McClain officiated. J.F. He was preceded in death by two sons, Bennie Ayers and Kelvin Ayers; and a sister, Janel Johnson. William Thurman Young, 79, of Olive Branch, died March 12, 2007 at Wesley Highland Manor Nursing Home. He was a member of Fair Haven Baptist Church in Olive Branch, an auto mechanic and an Army Veteran of World War II. Services were held at 10 a.m. on March 14 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery in Waterford. Bro. Desi Guinn and Bro. Barry Henson officiated. He leaves his wife, Mary Nell Young; a son, Randy Young of Olive Branch; a daughter, Nan Constance Rena of Olive Branch; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
