Holly Springs School District sets board meeting March 9

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Holly Springs School District, usually scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month, has been scheduled for Thursday, March 9.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and will be held in the Central Office Boardroom, 840 Highway 178 East, Holly Springs.

County school board slates next meeting for March 7

The Marshall County Board of Education will meet for the March board meeting on Tuesday, March 7, at 3:30 p.m. in the board room of the Marshall County Board of Supervisors, 103B Market Street, Holly Springs.

Small Business Roundtables kick off next Tues., March 7

All small business owners and other interested persons are invited to “Breakfast and Small Business: A Roundtable Discussion.”

Dates and topics are – Tuesday, March 7, Knowing Your Market; Tuesday, April 4, Recruit, Select and Train the Best People for Your Business; Tuesday, May 2, Secrets to Saving Your Business; Tuesday, June 6; The Next Step or How To Grow Your Business.

The breakfast, networking and discussion sessions will be held at Annie’s Restaurant on Memphis Street in Holly Springs, starting at 7 a.m. and ending at 8 a.m. Moderator will be Don Fischer, director of the Small Business Development Center at the University of Mississippi.

The special programs are a benefit of Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce membership.

Byhalia policemen respond to accidents, disturbances

The Byhalia Police Department responded to 40 calls during the past week.

Chief Mike Novay released the following report – 15 alarm calls, 11 miscellaneous, three escorts, three motor vehicle accidents, one domestic call, four disturbances, two juvenile-related calls and one assist.

Officers wrote 18 citations.

Novay said his department also made eight arrests on the following charges:

Warrant, false identity.
Driving while license suspended, no insurance, leaving the scene of accident, warrant (Olive Branch Police Department).
Warrant, contempt of court, Byhalia.
Warrant, theft of utilities, Byhalia.
Warrant, domestic violence/simple assault.
Driving while license suspended, careless driving.
Expired tag, driving while license suspended.
Possession of controlled substance.
