By SUE WATSON
Marshall County Retired Educational Personnel celebrated Black History Month, Friday, Feb. 10, and honored some individuals for service.
Shown (above photo, from left) are Robbie Zinn, who presented a plaque to her husband George Zinn III (right photo) for outstanding service to the community as county supervisor; Terry Kilpatrick Sr., recognized for outstanding performances in music and community service volunteering; Mary Milan, presenting to Kilpatrick; Louise Deloris Plaxico, given a plaque for outstanding service in education and community service; Maggie Adams, presenting to Plaxico; Mary Street, secretary; and Laverne Jones, president.
Previously known as Marshall County Retired Teachers Association, the 30-year-old organization was renamed recently to include retired staff personnel as well as teachers in its membership.
The group will meet again April 14 at 1 p.m. at Dreamland. The program will include some spring activities the group has done with the Holly Springs Intermediate School.
